The names Brian Haner Jr. Yes,there is another one besides me, being Brian Haner Sr., or better known as "Papa Gates". Now that we are over that...
I'm not even sure where to start. Everything kinda came fast at us over the last few years. One second we were doing shows here and there to doing warped tour and Hellfest, to touring with Metallica, Iron Maiden, and even headlined Ozzfest. We've also headlined our own tour all over the U.S and overseas, visited some places we've only dreamed about going to, and found ourselves with an MTV music award. We've done so much in between all these events, it's just been crazy. The guys and I have been working so hard to make things happen, and all that hard work has paid off big time. Looking back on the days where we were touring around in a busted ass van, something a lot of bands can relate to, and making $50 bucks a show, having a dollar a day allowance...Jesus Christ. That's like..what? A candy bar, or a bag of chips? Not to mention all the money saved up was for gas, and towing when the van stopped on the side of the road and shit. I believe the only reason we've made it this far is because we treated those days as though we were raking in cash like the big boys, and the only reason why we will still be making it the way we are in the future is because we are treating now as though we were still basically nobody. Of course we have our fun, and dress flashy and all that. It's the perks that comes with being successful, we can do that now, and I don't see why we shouldn't. But along with all that, we are humble and very business orientated. You can't have fun if everything is all fucked up, and if we want to keep the fun going, we have to be sure that everything is set up so we can ensure that it continues. I'm very proud of us all, and I couldn't see myself doing this with anyone other then these guys, my best friends.
Now, about me...I was born July 7th 1981, and raised in Huntington Beach,CA ,better known to most as The O.C., one of America's hardcore breeding grounds. Starting with my household, music was pretty much all around me, so it's pretty needless to state that it has always had a major part in my life. Papa being a recording artist himself, I grew up watching him, and eventually became interested in picking up guitar as well. My first guitar was giving to me by my grandparents, and since then I've been playing. A cousin of mine got me into Led Zeppelin, which from there I grew a fascination with Jimmy Page, and his skills, and from the moment on, I've always wanted to be more then just a guy in a band, I wanted to have a hand in as much as I can. Now, I'm the lead guitarist for the band that will swallow the minds of the ignorant in a blissful spark of epic melodies. Or simply Avenged Sevenfold. I studied music at MIT [Music Institute Of Technology] for jazz guitar, which most people wouldn't think for jazz and metal to go together but,it does. Ever notice how aggressive my playing is but at the same time soul soothing? Right. I'm out to take over the word with my four brothers by my side. From our beginning in 1999 and beyond, we will forever be untouchable. This band is something that I can be proud of if nothing else went right in my life. Sure, I can be stupid and hardly give a flying fuck about what anyone thinks of me,...well actually I don't care at all, but for those who choose to stick around through my BS and get to know me will learn that I am indeed more than some musician in a rock band. There's a Haner empire to build that will go on for generations, and it can't be done on fame alone.
